Job Description

Cosben is seeking a dynamic and ambitious Purchase Lead with a proven track record in mechanical engineering equipment procurement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of purchasing processes and demonstrate the skills to oversee all procurement functions for our standard equipment range. We are looking for someone with a proactive attitude, capable of streamlining our current operations to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness. In the short term, the primary focus will be on optimizing and refining existing activities and processes. Long-term goals include significant cost reduction and enhancing overall operational efficiency through innovative procurement strategies and collaboration across departments.

• Daily Operations:
  • Manage and oversee all daily activities related to the procurement of standard equipment.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (Design, Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Stores, Sales) to ensure timely delivery of quality materials and components.
• Vendor Development, Supplier Relationship Management, Supplier Performance Review:
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Expand the supplier network by securing two primary vendors and one backup vendor for each component, organized according to the specific manufacturing process.
  • Have strong network & connections in the industry to stay informed about market trends, pricing fluctations and industry best practices.
  • Evaluate and onboard new suppliers, ensuring they meet quality and delivery standards.
  • Conduct regular supplier reviews and resolve issues related to quality, pricing fluctuations, and delays.
• Team Management:
  • Oversee the work of junior Purchase Engineers and manage their KRA's
• Zero Based Costing:
  • Conduct zero-based costing for all components and ensure cost-efficient purchases.
• Negotations & Rate Contracts:
  • Negotiate rate contracts with suppliers to ensure the best value in terms of quality, price, and delivery. Convince suppliers to maintain minimum stock at their premises for just-in-time (JIT) delivery.
• Demand Forecasting & Inventory Management:
  • Analyze monthly, quarterly, and periodic requirements. Plan procurement based on current stock, demand forecasts, and lead times to avoid overstocking or stockouts.
  • Collaborate with sales, stores, and planning teams to maintain optimum inventory levels.
  • Manage minimum, maximum, and reorder levels, adjusting these based on demand and lead time, reviewed quarterly.
• Process Optimization:
  • Streamline all purchase processes (including all documentation within the timeline) to improve efficiency, from planning, stock review, requisitions, purchase orders, to delivery schedules and actual delivery.
  • Ensure follow-up with suppliers for timely deliveries and provide updates to internal teams.
• Cost Saving & MIS:
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and propose strategies to senior management.
  • Present quarterly reports with detailed analysis to senior management.

Other skills & experience requirement :

• Proven experience in purchase of mechanical engineering equipment.
• Proficient in reading, understanding, and reviewing engineering drawings.
• Excellent communication skills with strong proficiency in English (written and spoken).
• In-depth understanding of commercial terms (INCO-terms), pricing, and negotiation.
• Strong analytical/ problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
• Must be proficient in MS Excel
• Highly organized and diligent with proven time-management abilities.
• Preferably from the process industry, chemicals, pharmaceutical equipment manufacturers, or project consultants (mechanical equipment/process industry).
